Kieron Pollard might have announced his retirement from international cricket as well as the IPL, but the West Indies powerhouse showcased he still has a lot of fuel left in his tank. Pollard launched a brutal assault on wrist-spinner Rashid Khan during The Hundred contest. Southern Brave's Pollard smashed Rashid of Trent Rockets for five consecutive sixes in an over. Pollard delivered a game-changing performance to help Southern Brave chase down 127 runs with just one ball to spare at the Rose Bowl in Southampton on August 10, Saturday.

Rashid was very economical in his first 15 deliveries, having conceded 10 runs with one wicket as well. Pollard went on to dismantle his bowling figures in a single over and turned the tide in his team's favour when they needed 49 runs in 20 balls. The West Indies batter smashed the first two balls in the cow corner and long-off region. This was followed by a straight hit back over Rashid's head and a powerful shot over deep mid-wicket and another six towards long-off to top it all off. This assault reduced the run-requirement to just 19 from 15 balls.

Pollard guides his team towards win

Despite being in the losing position, Pollard's quick-fire 45 off 23 shifted the momentum in Southern Brave's favour. Pollard hit two fours in the next set before he was run out by Calvin Harrison. With Chris Jordan into bat, he hit a four off the penultimate ball of the innings to secure the win.

Pollard wasn't too impressed by the situation his team had brought themselves into before his rescue act.

"Hopefully some lessons learnt and we won't put ourselves in such a situation next time around," he said after the game.

Reflecting on his performance against Rashid Khan, Pollard acknowledged their shared history and familiarity with each other's play.

"I've played a lot against him, and he's gotten me out many times. But I knew the lines and lengths he was likely to bowl," Pollard said.

"I just backed myself - if he bowled short, I was going across; if he went full, I was going to hit straight. He bowled three fuller balls, and they were right in my arc. At that point, I couldn't hold back, I had to go for maximums. But Rashid is a world-class bowler; we've played a lot against each other," he added.
