The FAW launched BE.FC in October 2024. BE.FC is a recreational programme that enables teenage girls across Wales to join a community, play football and make friends. The FAW are now taking applications for new providers to join the programme in 2026.

BE.FC stands for BE. Football Community and aims to address the common dropout of girls from sports at age 13. Through extensive research and consultation, the FAW created a programme specifically tailored to the needs of teenage girls.

Joining the BE.FC Programme is free of charge, and the FAW are recruiting new providers to join the programme. Applications are open until Friday 28th April 2026, and the FAW encourages all clubs not currently participating in the programme to apply. Click here to apply.

BE.FC helps clubs expand their recreational offering and is designed for girls aged 12-16 to enjoy football in a relaxed social setting. BE.FC welcomes all skill levels, promotes a healthy lifestyle and supports personal development. It offers a pressure-free space for both new and returning players.

Ellie Lake, FAW BE.FC lead said:

“Teenage girls today face increasing pressures, and it’s vital that we continue to support them so they can stay engaged and thrive in physical activity. BE.FC, shaped by teenage girls across Wales, creates a welcoming space for girls to connect through football, build friendships, and enjoy the game in a relaxed and inclusive environment.

“As we open applications for 2026, BE.FC will continue to support clubs to sustain teenage engagement. With another exciting year ahead for women’s football in Wales, we’re committed to ensuring every girl has the opportunity to get involved, feel confident, and enjoy football in a way that works for them.”
