DDCA terms reports of corruption in DPL as unverified and unsubstantiated

The Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) has termed the reports of corruption in the Delhi Premier League (DPL) as unverified and unsubstantiated. Reacting to an expose in Tehelka, the association said it has sought the advice from competent authority, in this case the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

“DDCA would like to clarify that the allegations referred to in these reports are unverified and have not been established by any competent authority. The Association believes it would be inappropriate to draw conclusions about any individual, player or franchise based solely on such allegations,” it said in a statement on Tuesday (September 22).

“Given the seriousness of the matter, DDCA has written to the respective authorities and shared the information that has come to its notice, requesting that the matter be examined through the appropriate established processes.”

The Tehelka website conducted a sting operation on a former first-class player who claimed he could provide information on playing XI, ahead of matches not only in the DPL but also in the IPL. He also claimed to have shared information with bookies during the 2025 IPL season and further alleged that he had fixed matches in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Tournament (SMAT). He says he would charge Rs 40 lakh per match for the information.

The DDCA said it maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards corruption. “DDCA maintains a zero-tolerance approach towards any activity that may compromise the integrity of cricket and will extend its full cooperation to any inquiry undertaken by the competent authorities. Any action, if warranted, will be taken strictly in accordance with the findings of the appropriate authorities and the applicable rules and regulations.”

It further said that it is committed to safeguarding the integrity of the sport. “DDCA believes that it is important to distinguish between allegations and established facts and allow the due process to take its course. The Association remains committed to safeguarding the integrity, credibility and reputation of cricket in Delhi.”
