Gold Coast’s 15-year-wait for finals is almost over - and so too the Western Bulldogs’ time in football purgatory.

The Suns are bound for their first finals series - they won’t lose from here.

The margin at half-time is 42 points - and it’s likely to only grow from here.

The margin is enough for them to make up the 0.8 in percentage on Hawthorn to move into seventh, and an elimination final in Perth against Fremantle.

The Bombers were better that quarter but still outscored. Matt Rowell and Noah Anderson have led the way with 19 and 17 disposals respectively.

John Noble’s also found plenty of it with 19.

The Suns don’t lose too often when those three are in the thick of it. Ben King kicked three in the first quarter but did not add to that in the second.

For the Bombers, Dylan Shiel, in what might be his last AFL game, is has 17 disposals, and Archie Roberts 16.

As for the Bulldogs, this is a cruel place to be.

After the disappointment of Sunday, they’ve had to wait three days to learn their fate.

They would have known this would be coming, but it still hurts when it does.
