Arsenal have made a solid start to their Premier League title defence but they face a potentially tricky challenge against London rivals Chelsea, who have also put six points on the board.

Mikel Arteta's side have secured back-to-back wins without conceding a goal, while the Blues have done things quite differently with high-scoring victories, winning 3-2 at Fulham and 4-3 at home to Brighton.

Arsenal have faced just one shot on target in their first two matches of the season and their powers of resilience hold the key to defeating Chelsea in an eagerly anticipated London derby.

The Gunners are a shade of odds-on to win back-to-back league titles for the first time since the 1930s.

But there has also been considerable respect for Chelsea, who are third in the betting despite last season's tenth-place finish.

The Blues made a considerable profit on their summer transfer dealings despite making several high-profile signings, including Morgan Rogers, who is having an immediate impact.

Rogers has contributed a goal and an assist in his first two Chelsea appearances, and his link-up play with Cole Palmer and Joao Pedro has been a key feature of the Blues' bright start to the season.

However, Chelsea are still conceding a lot of goals and their defensive issues need to be addressed if they are to be taken seriously in the title race.

Error-strewn goalkeeper Robert Sanchez was at fault for the two goals conceded against Fulham before being hastily being sent out on loan to Como, but replacement Emiliano Martinez soon discovered that the life of a Chelsea goalkeeper is far from straightforward.

Chelsea raced into a 3-0 lead inside 32 minutes against Brighton but they ended up hanging on for a 4-3 success as their soft centre was repeatedly exposed.

Blues head coach Xabi Alonso usually likes his teams to press high but that may not be sensible against an Arsenal outfit who are excellent at exploiting spaces left in behind.

Chelsea will probably set up to defend deeper against an Arsenal side accustomed to dominating territory and possession, and the quality and movement of their front three could potentially pose their hosts a few problems.

However, while Arsenal's backline can be relied open to stay concentrated and disciplined, the same cannot be said of their opponents, who continue to leak far too many goals.

Chelsea's defensive issues go back a long time. The Blues last kept a Premier League clean sheet in January when they sealed a 2-0 success at home to Brentford, and they have conceded more than once in seven of their last ten league fixtures.

They seem to lack leadership in the backline and there is a lack of midfield protection and stability which has not been helped by constant chopping and changing in the centre-of-the-park.

Chelsea's midfield was not up to scratch last season and the situation hasn't been improved by Enzo Fernandez's deadline-day move to Manchester City.

The biggest matches are often decided in midfield and Arsenal's power and excellence in that area should lay the foundation for a fairly routine home victory.

Arsenal ask a lot of their defenders, who are expected to keep things tight as well as making an impact in attacking situations.

Left-back Riccardo Calafiori has set up two of their four goals this season and his creative talents could come to the fore against Chelsea.
