India’s Vijay Sundar Prashanth and his Spanish partner Sergio Martos Gornes produced a gritty comeback to win the doubles title at the Poznań Open 2025 tennis tournament in Poland on Saturday.The 38-year-old Indian tennis player and Sergio Martos Gornes, 30, rallied from a set down to beat Romanian duo Mircea-Alexandru Jecan and Bogdan Pavel 2-6, 7-5, 10-8 in a final that lasted for an hour and 45 minutes.The Poznań Open, an ATP Challenger 100 tennis event, was played on the clay courts of the Park Tenisowy Olimpia.It marked Vijay Sundar Prashanth’s second ATP Challenger doubles title of the year and seventh overall. Prashanth, along with compatriot Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan, won the doubles title at the Maha Open, also an ATP Challenger 100 event, in February.In the final in Poznań, the Indo-Spanish pair conceded the first set after losing serve in the sixth and eighth games.The second set unfolded as a tightly contested battle. The Romanian duo saved break points in the fourth game, while Vijay Sundar Prashanth and Martos Gornes held their nerve to fend off a break point in the eighth.Vijay Sundar Prashanth-Martos Gornes also saved a match point in the 10th game before going on to break their opponents in the subsequent game en route to winning the second set and forcing a super tie-break.With the scores level at 6-6 in the tie-break, Prashanth and Martos Gornes held their nerve and converted their second match point to seal the win.Vijay Sundar Prashanth and Sergio Martos Gornes’ route to the final in the ATP Poznań Challenger saw them overcome France’s Luca Sanchez and Japan’s Seita Watanabe in the pre-quarterfinals before beating the Brazilian duo of Mateus Alves and Marcelo Zormann Da Silva in the quarter-finals.Their semi-final encounter against the Netherlands’ Matwe Middelkoop and Jean-Julien Rojer was also a hard-fought battle where they saved a match point and won a tie-break to make the final.
