Plymouth boss Miron Muslic reveals why he went to watch Arne Slot's Feyenoord and hails 'complete' Liverpool coach

Liverpool cannot enjoy the celebrations too much after reaching the Carabao Cup semi-final on Thursday.

The Reds did brilliantly to overturn a 1-0 first-leg deficit against Tottenham and reach a third League Cup final in four years.

But this is modern day football and the fixture schedule does not allow you to take your eye off the ball for one second.

Just three days after their win over Tottenham at Anfield, Liverpool travel down to Devon to meet Plymouth Argyle in the FA Cup.

The Reds will be heavy favourites to beat the Pilgrims who sit dead last of the Championship.

Under a relatively new manager in Miron Muslic, though, Plymouth will be well up for it. And by the sounds of it, so will their boss, who has revealed his admiration for Arne Slot.

Miron Muslic reveals Arne Slot admiration

Muslic has been at Plymouth for less than a month, having taken over from Wayne Rooney on January 10th.

Since then, the Bosnian has guided his team to two wins in six games as they look to avoid the drop to League One. A former manager of Cercle Brugge, Muslic is an interesting character.

And speaking ahead of his big meeting with Liverpool, the 42-year-old revealed that while manager at Brugge, he twice took the chance to visit Feyenoord to watch and learn from Slot.

“He’s a coach I really admire, he’s a coach I look up to, and he’s a coach I try to learn [from],” Muslic said via BBC Sport. “When I see them playing I try to understand what they are doing, what they are preparing.”

“That’s why I also travelled two times in my period in Bruges, because it’s just around the corner, I travelled two times to Rotterdam to see Slot’s Feyenoord, to learn.

“So if someone could manage in world football – I’m not saying to forgot almost Jurgen Klopp – and put another fingerprint on it, it’s Slot, and he’s a complete coach.”

Muslic admits Plymouth can’t stop Liverpool

Having already managed in Austira, Belgium and now England, Muslic is an experienced coach for his relative youth.

He has a big job on his hands at Plymouth, but he’ll no doubt be relishing in the chance to test himself and his team up against Slot and the Premier League leaders.

Continuing in his comments ahead of the match, though, Muslic did admit that Liverpool are ‘another step’ from what Plymouth have been used to facing.

“Liverpool is another step, Liverpool is another category,” he said.

“Liverpool can find another gear very, very quickly and that’s OK, we won’t stop this, but we have also some things that we can show, and we can also learn from this game.”

All the best for Sunday, Miron!
