PCB Clears Pakistani Stars for Big Bash League After Lifting NOC Suspension

In a welcome development for Pakistan’s cricket fraternity, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has reportedly granted No Objection Certificates (NOCs) to several national players for participation in the upcoming 15th edition of the Big Bash League (BBL).

The decision marks a reversal of the PCB’s earlier stance from September 30, 2025, when it suspended all NOCs for overseas leagues until further notice. At the time, the board stated that the pause would remain in effect “with the approval of the Chairman PCB” while officials reviewed the NOC policy, reportedly aiming to link approvals with player performance and national duty commitments.

With the suspension now lifted, several Pakistani players are set to feature in Australia’s most popular T20 competition, which kicks off on December 14, 2025, and runs through January 25, 2026.

Leading the Pakistani contingent is Babar Azam, who will make his much-anticipated BBL debut with the Sydney Sixers. His arrival has already sparked buzz, with the franchise unveiling a special fan zone titled “Babaristan” to celebrate his inclusion, a gesture that has gone viral among cricket fans across both nations.

Alongside Babar, Shaheen Afridi will represent Brisbane Heat, having been picked as the first overseas platinum selection in the draft. Mohammad Rizwan joins the Melbourne Renegades, while fiery pacer Haris Rauf continues with the Melbourne Stars. Pakistan’s T20I vice-captain Shadab Khan will turn out for the Sydney Thunder in his first cricketing appearance since a shoulder surgery, and Hasan Ali will feature for the Adelaide Strikers, rounding off a strong green presence in the league.

For Pakistan’s players, the tournament represents not just an opportunity to showcase their skills on an international platform, but also a chance to prepare for upcoming white-ball assignments by playing in high-pressure conditions.

While the PCB’s earlier suspension of NOCs for the Big Bash League raised concerns among players hoping to feature in global T20 leagues, the latest approval suggests a more balanced approach, allowing stars to gain international exposure while maintaining commitments to domestic and national duties.

With Pakistan’s top talent now cleared to take part in BBL 15, the spotlight will now be on how the country’s biggest cricketing names perform on one of the sport’s most glamorous stages.
