BREAKING: Changes confirmed to John Kiely's Limerick hurling management team

JOHN Kiely has completed a shake-up of his Limerick senior hurling management team ahead of the 2025 inter-county season.

Kiely's backroom team was passed by the executive officers of Limerick GAA on Thursday evening and will come before a full meeting of the County Board on Tuesday night for ratification for a new two year term.

It was previously confirmed that John Kiely would return as the Limerick senior hurling manager, alongside head coach Paul Kinnerk.

Now confirmed is that coach-selectors Alan Cunningham and John Flavin are also returning.

After an incredibly busy 2024 Liam Cronin will come into the senior hurling management team as a new coach-selector. This season Cronin was involved with the Limerick minor hurling team, Cork senior camogie team, Ardscoil Rís Harty Cup side and Eire Og, Ennis senior club hurling team.

The departing coach-selectors are Donal O'Grady, who will be taking over the role of Limerick minor hurling manager next year and Aonghus O'Brien.

There is also a new S&C coach in the form of Adrian O'Brien, father to Limerick hurling's rising star Shane.

Kilmallock's Adrian O'Brien is a former Limerick football S&C coach. O'Brien has also previously worked with the Tipperary senior footballers and Cork club hurling side St Finbarr's. He was also involved with the Clare senior hurlers during the 22/23 season.

Departing from Kiely's backroom team are S&C coach Cairbre Ó'Cairealláin, who has been part of the Limerick set-up since 2021 and Joe O'Connor will also leave his role as High Performance Manager of the team.

O'Connor returned to Kiely's management team in 2023 after previously being involved with the team. He was the strength and conditioning coach when the Treaty ended a 45-year famine in 2018 before stepping aside at the end of the 2019 season.

The team nutritionist will be Catherine Norton, who previously worked in Limerick under manager John Allen, when John Kiely was a coach-selector.

The team performance coach will be Paul Kilgannon. This role was filled by Caroline Currid during all five of Limerick's All-Ireland SHC title wins under John Kiely since 2018.
