Brentford v Chelsea predicted line-ups

Brentford: Aaron Hickey took Michael Kayode’s right-back spot last weekend and will hope to retain it here. On the opposite side, El Hadji Malick Diouf started at left-back during EFL Cup duty in midweek; can he oust Keane Lewis-Potter in the Premier League? Keith Andrews opted for the additional security of Yehor Yarmoliuk in an advanced central midfield role last weekend, and must decide whether to continue deploying the Ukrainian there or return to Mikkel Damsgaard.

Chelsea: Xabi Alonso could not have kept his cards closer to his chest in his pre-match press conference, refusing to confirm whether Joao Pedro is available – “It is a possibility” – despite the forward withdrawing from the upcoming Brazil squad through injury. If he is out, Danny Welbeck appears the most likely replacement. Alonso also divulged little on Moises Caicedo, Reece James, Marco Palestra and Jordan Henderson, simply stating that he will decide about that quartet on Friday. Pep Chavarria will be itching for his first league start.

Spurs v Aston Villa predicted line-ups

Spurs: Roberto De Zerbi set to make changes at full-back for the meeting with Aston Villa. Right-back Pedro Porro was left out as a precaution against Everton last weekend, but is fit to return in place of Archie Gray. At left-back, Destiny Udogie started the midweek EFL Cup defeat at Liverpool after missing the Everton fixture, and is likely to keep his place ahead of Andy Robertson. Sandro Tonali missed the match at Anfield but has been declared fit for the Villa game. James Maddison is also available and is getting closer to making his first start after being eased back from injury off the bench so far this season. Long-term absentee Dejan Kulusevski is back training with his team-mates, but his return is likely to come after the international break.

Villa: Unai Emery will make changes to his defence, with summer signing Matteo Ruggeri set to come in for the injured Ian Maatsen at left-back after impressing on his first start in the midweek EFL Cup win at Coventry. Tyrone Mings is in line to play alongside Victor Lindelof in central defence, with Pau Torres ruled out. Matty Cash could also replace Aaron Wan-Bissaka at right-back having returned to the squad at Coventry following muscle soreness. Midfielder Joao Gomes is available after suspension, while Emery must decide whether to keep faith with striker Nicolas Jackson or select Tammy Abraham, who scored twice in midweek.

Brighton v Arsenal predicted line-ups

Brighton: The Seagulls could name the same team that won 5-0 at Coventry City last weekend. But Georginio Rutter will be challenging for a start after making his return from injury in the midweek EFL Cup win at Manchester United. Fabian Hurzeler confirmed that left-back Jaouen Hadjam will be available despite being forced off on his Brighton debut at Old Trafford. Yet winger Femi Azeez remains out with the hamstring injury he arrived with from his Deadline Day move from Millwall. The Seagulls also have a number of longer-term absentees including Kaoru Mitoma, Jack Hinshelwood, Stefanos Tzimas, Yankuba Minteh, Zadok Yohanna, Evan Ferguson and Mats Wieffer.

Arsenal: Ben White suffered a groin issue in last week’s win at Sunderland and missed the midweek EFL Cup victory at Ipswich Town. While Mikel Areta has suggested he should be fit for the visit to Brighton, Jurrien Timber is also available and could come in at right-back. Arteta is also confident Piero Hincapie and Cristhian Mosquera should be fine to play, insisting he is “really positive about everybody”. Midfielder Bruno Guimaraes could make his first Premier League start for Arsenal after scoring off the bench at Sunderland, when he replaced Myles Lewis-Skelly at half-time. “He is such a dynamic, versatile player that he can deliver great moments from any position,” Arteta said on Guimaraes. “It will be more down to what we need on the day.”

Everton v Ipswich predicted line-ups

Everton: Harrison Armstrong missed the midweek EFL Cup win over Wolverhampton Wanderers through injury. David Moyes said he is “still waiting” on his fitness but “expects him to be OK” to partner James Garner in central midfield. Jack Grealish is pushing for his first Premier League start since his return to Everton on loan from Manchester City. Tyrique George could start on the right ahead of Brennan Johnson, although young winger Tyler Dibling staked his claim against Wolves. Merlin Rohl and Christian Norgaard remain injured.

Ipswich: Gary O’Neil has confirmed striker Emersonn is fit to face Everton after a tight quad saw him miss the midweek EFL Cup defeat to Arsenal. However, Zian Flemming - who scored the winner at Crystal Palace last weekend after coming on for the injured Emersson in the second half - is also pushing for a start. Azor Matusiwa is back available but is not expected to play, with Jack Taylor the only Ipswich player now out injured.

Newcastle v Hull predicted line-ups

Newcastle: Matthias Jaissle’s injury list only lengthens. Anthony Elanga was ruled out of Monday’s defeat against Leeds, with Jacob Murphy replacing him. If Jaissle opts to remove Murphy then Harvey Barnes is an option to shift to the right, with Bazoumana Toure coming in on the left. Nico Gonzalez departed early against Leeds with concussion, meaning Sean Steur should start in central midfield, with Jacob Ramsay also unavailable. At the back, Amar Dedic has joined the extensive list of absentees, which might see Tino Livramento start. Joe Willock and Matias Fernandez-Pardo seem to be contesting one spot.

Hull: Four games into their Premier League return, Hull City are still yet to lose. That has allowed Sergej Jakirovic to be fairly consistent with his team selection, although he will be without Nobel Mendy, who suffered concussion in a clash of heads last weekend. Lucas Herrington and Paddy McNair are options to replace him. Matt Crooks will hope to keep Lucas Gourna-Douath and Tim Iroegbunam out in central midfield, while Sorba Thomas could challenge Elliot Stroud’s spot.

Nott'm Forest v Coventry predicted line-ups

Nott'm Forest: Forest were without Jair Cunha and Nikola Milenkovic last weekend after both picked up hamstring issues. Oliver Glasner confirmed Milenkovic remains out, while Cunha has returned to training, with his manager waiting to see “how he reacts”. Ola Aina will fill in again if needed. Ibrahim Sangare missed out to Xaver Schlager and James McAtee against Aston Villa and seems set to do so again. Igor Jesus came off the bench to score the winner in that game and must be pushing Dan Ndoye hard for a starting spot.

Coventry: Frank Lampard switched from a back three to a four in the EFL Cup, and will have to decide whether to revert to his previous system here. He will be without Aurele Amenda though, after picking up a calf injury. Man City loanee Stephen Mfuni may well replace him, although Lampard could shuffle formation instead. Victor Torp and Caleb Yirenkyi impressed in midweek, so could come into central midfield, while there is always plenty of competition for the two No 10 spots, including new signing Yann Gboho. Up front, teenager Sidiki Cherif replaced the suspended Taiwo Awoniyi on Wednesday; he will battle it out with Ellis Simms here.

AFC Bournemouth v Liverpool predicted line-ups

Bournemouth: The Cherries registered a famous win at Real Sociedad in their first European match on Thursday with the same XI who started last weekend’s draw with Brentford. Could Marco Rose name the same starting line-up for a third match in eight days? That would appear to be the most likely scenario, with no new injury concerns from their midweek exploits, and with Amine Adli, Julian Araujo, Junior Kroupi and Veljko Milosavljevic all still sidelined. Should Rose wish to freshen things up, he may choose to replace Tyler Adams with Lewis Cook in central midfield, the only position he has rotated in the Premier League so far this season.

Liverpool: Cody Gakpo missed last week’s goalless draw with Fulham through injury, but returned with a goal and assist in the EFL Cup win over Spurs. That should see him earn a starting spot, yet he may have to switch to right to allow summer signing Bradley Barcola to continue on the left. Another midweek goalscorer, Alexis Mac Allister, may replace Ryan Gravenberch in central midfield alongside Dominik Szoboszlai. In defence, Milos Kerkez is set to come back in for Konstantinos Tsimikas at left-back against his former club. Joe Gomez made his return from injury against Spurs, but Conor Bradley, Hugo Ekitike, Giovanni Leoni and Federico Chiesa are still out.

Leeds v Crystal Palace predicted line-ups

Leeds: Daniel Farke has no reason to make any changes from the team that thrashed Newcastle 4-1 on Monday night. Harry Wilson has been ruled out with a quad injury, but he has only been used off the bench in recent weeks. Noah Okafor is likely to keep his place after scoring against Newcastle, but Brenden Aaronson would be an option if Farke does decide to shuffle his pack. Midfielder Ilia Gruev is back available after coming through an Under-21s game unscathed in midweek, but Joe Rodon and Mateo Joseph remain out.

Palace: Axel Disasi is suspended for the trip to Leeds following his red card against Ipswich last weekend. In his absence, Takehiro Tomiyasu is expected to come in at centre-back. Ismaila Sarr is pushing for a starting spot after making his first appearance of the season as a second-half substitute in the midweek UEFA Europa League win over Lech Poznan. Eagles boss Pierre Sage said the Senegal winger could “maybe” start at Leeds, but would not be able to play 90 minutes. Dean Henderson and Jean-Philippe Mateta will not be fit until after the international break.

Man City v Sunderland predicted line-ups

Man City: With Phil Foden suspended following his red card against Man Utd, summer signing Iliman Ndiaye is in line to make his second Premier League start for his new club. Jeremy Doku should also be available against Sunderland, according to his manager Enzo Maresca, having recovered from the calf injury he picked up in the FA Community Shield, although the bench looks more likely for the Belgian. Nico O’Reilly started in the midweek EFL Cup win over Norwich on his return from injury, but is unlikely to displace Josko Gvardiol at left-back.

Sunderland: Regis Le Bris has a decision to make at left-back, with first-choice Reinildo Mandava suspended following his late red card against Arsenal last weekend. The Sunderland boss could opt for the right-footed Trai Hume, who filled in on the left several times last season, or throw in summer signing Dayann Methalie for a Premier League debut. Otherwise, Le Bris’ team is likely to look much like the one that faced Arsenal, after making four changes for the historic UEFA Europa League win over AZ Alkmaar in midweek. Habib Diarra and Romaine Mundle are Sunderland’s only injuries.

Fulham v Man Utd predicted line-ups

Fulham: The hosts could be unchanged from the side that drew at Liverpool last weekend as head coach Alvaro Arbeloa goes in search of his first Premier League win. Sander Berge and Shea Charles were paired together in central midfield for the first time at Anfield and are likely to keep their places, with Alex Iwobi continuing in a more advanced role. Ryan Sessegnon, who has been used off the bench so far this season, faces a late fitness test, but Kenny Tete is definitely unavailable. Tete is observing concussion protocols having been hit in the face by the ball after coming off the bench at Anfield. Tom Cairney also remains out with a knee injury.

Man Utd: Luke Shaw remains a doubt following the injury he picked up in Matchweek 3. “There is a chance,” said Michael Carrick. “It is really short term, but we are just working towards the game, so we’ll see how he is.” With question marks over Shaw’s fitness, Patrick Dorgu is likely to start again at left-back. Elsewhere, Carrick has a decision to make up front, with Matheus Cunha yet to score in the Premier League this season. Benjamin Sesko was Man Utd’s starting centre-forward in the midweek EFL Cup defeat to Brighton, but failed to seize his chance. If Carrick does opt for Sesko as his striker, Cunha could replace Rashford on the left wing. Carlos Baleba may make his Man Utd debut off the bench.
