Klara Bühl reveals how Germany are managing expectations at EURO 2025

When you’re the competition’s most successful nation with eight titles, six of which were won consecutively, the football world looks to you as one of the favourites.

For Germany, that means burdening those expectations at EURO 2025.

Yet despite the outside noise, star forward Klara Bühl is adamant that the feeling from within the camp is quite the opposite.

“I don’t think it is in our mentality to say that,” she told The Guardian.

“But we have a lot of quality in the team, and we have also built a good atmosphere.

“The fact is: Everyone has to be 100% on top of their game, every game, otherwise it won’t work.”

Bühl and her teammates return to the European stage with a vengeance, having narrowly missed out on a ninth title three years ago. They were beaten by England in extra-time, subsequently losing 2-1.

Plenty has changed for them since now and then, with their electric winger letting supporters in on how their approach differs.

“You can see the sparkle in everyone’s eyes – we are ready,” she said.

“We are a bit more carefree and think less about how the goals are going to come, then they seem to come naturally.

“We are bit more attack-minded now as well; scoring a lot of goals gives you confidence that you will score [when you need to].”

Bühl has already been instrumental in Germany’s opening 2-0 win over EURO 2025 debutants Poland. They’ll need her firing on all fronts to get a result against Denmark on Tuesday (8 July).
