Signed from Monaco in 2006, the 43-year-old Frenchman went on to establish himself in the United first team and became a key defensive figure under Ferguson.

Evra lifted five Premier League titles, a Champions League and three League Cups during his time at United before he went on to sign for Juventus in 2014.

Speaking on The Obi One Podcast, Evra recalled his experience of listening to one Ferguson team talk where the United legend focused on “each individual.”

The former United left-back revealed that Ferguson singled out Carlos Tevez, Wayne Rooney, Anderson and Evra himself, with the Scot not mentioning football once.

“It’s the best-ever pitch I’ve ever heard in my life because he didn’t talk about football,” Evra said.

“He just picked each individual and talked about their life experiences.”

Evra said that Ferguson focused on the backstory of each former United player, from Carlos Tevez’s roots in Argentina to Wayne Rooney’s upbringing in Liverpool.

The ex-Juventus and United defender admitted that Ferguson’s spine-tingling speech left all of the former Red Devils players with “goosebumps” ahead of the match.

“He spoke to Carlos Tevez surviving in Buenos Aires, Rooney in Liverpool, Anderson in the favelas in Brazil,” Evra continued.

“Before the game, we all had goosebumps, and you know what he said… ‘I’ve already won, look at this dressing room, so many different nationalities and you’re all together, go outside and just enjoy it… my trophy is already there.’”
