The latest Liverpool transfer news and rumors, as the Reds decide on an approach regarding defender Ronald Araujo, while youngster Patrik Farkas signs for the club

After a busy summer transfer window, Liverpool is already looking ahead to the winter market, where there could be some important deals on the horizon.

Andoni Iraola has admitted that there is little point in looking back at the summer, though it has left some gaps to be filled in the squad, with all eyes focused on the future. The Reds could strengthen in several positions, with the midfield and right-wing being key areas to focus, though a move to improve the backline cannot also be ruled out in the weeks ahead.

So, with that said, here's a look at the latest Liverpool transfer news ahead of another busy day of action.

Ronald Araujo (Barcelona)

Liverpool loanee Ronald Araujo hasn't taken long to impress the fanbase, making an impact in his first few games featuring as a right-back. The Barcelona ace has a permanent clause in his loan worth roughly $63 million, and while there have been suggestions that the Reds may trigger a deal early, being able to do so in January, that doesn't seem to be the case.

Football Insider reports that Liverpool will wait until the end of the season to assess the decision, which means a permanent deal may have to wait until next summer. It's claimed that Iraola is impressed with Araujo so far, and if he continues to play at the same level all season, then there is a belief that the permanent clause will be triggered.

Liverpool.com says: Araujo has certainly proven to be a useful addition for Liverpool so far, covering at right-back but with an ability to feature at center-back too.

Considering the gap between the experience of Virgil van Dijk and the likes of Jeremy Jacquet and Giovanni Leoni in the backline, adding Araujo to the mix can bring in some experience of playing at the very top, as well as some longevity if he were to stay, as he is only 27.

The Uruguayan international has certainly endeared himself to the Liverpool fans, but waiting until next summer is a sensible approach, giving the team time to properly assess the market and find out whether it is the right call or not to complete the signing.

Patrik Farkas (Liverpool)

Liverpool has announced the signing of academy prospect Patrik Farkas, with the midfielder putting pen to paper on a deal after leaving Blackburn Rovers. A Hungarian youth international, Farkas had previously spent time with the Reds before he moved to Ewood Park, with his return now offering depth in the academy ranks.

Speaking to Liverpool's website, he said: "It's a dream come true to sign here, I'm really happy and just excited to get started. I'm enjoying being back at Liverpool, there are some new faces but it's good to meet everyone and also see lots of old friends as well.

"I'm a technical player, a box-to-box player who can play in multiple positions and try to make things happen. The coaches have just asked me to excite them, to get playing, be confident and show them what I can do. From there anything can happen. Work hard and take the next step from there."

Liverpool.com says: Liverpool, like many top clubs, is constantly looking to improve the youth ranks and adding a player like Farkas will certainly do that.

The 19-year-old has already featured in an under-21s matchday squad for the Reds, and it remains to be seen whether he can force his way into contention for the senior side.
