Hansi Flick's Barça 3.0, A Dominant One To Try To Achieve The Champions League

In a matter of nine days, Hansi Flick and FC Barcelona will start their third season together since the german coach arrived in Spain in 2024

Barcelona are kicking off their third season under Hansi Flick with a clear objective: to win their third consecutive league title and set their sights on a sixth Champions League.

On the domestic front, last season the doubts raised by their style of play hardly translated into poor results. In fact, they set an unprecedented record: winning all nineteen of their home matches. However, in the Champions League, the team was once again knocked out at the quarter-final stage – against Atlético Madrid, their nemesis, who had already knocked them out of the Copa del Rey.

Shortly afterwards, Julián Álvarez asked to fulfill his dream of playing for the Catalan club. As things stand, Barcelona are still keen to see Julian in the Blaugrana shirt, and it seems the rumours will continue right up until the last day of the transfer window.

What Needs To Be Improved?

It's hard to believe that, given the headaches defence has caused Flick on so many occasions, neither the German manager nor the sporting director have decided to speed up the signing of a left-footed centre-back. Bastoni was linked with the club, as were Laporte, Cuti Romero and Baleba… But none of these deals came to fruition.

Also, in the striker position, Deco needs to push as hard as possible to sign at least one player. Lewandowski's departure meant the club had to look for a new signing to lead the line. With Ferran's departure to Paris Saint-Germain looking increasingly likely, the number 9 position is left vacant, and several names have been linked with filling that role.

Some players are already part of the squad, such as Dani Olmo, Fermín and Hamza Abdelkarim. However, the first two are not natural strikers but stopgap solutions. Vlahovic has already been ruled out following his move to Besiktas, Villarreal are reportedly asking for 60 million for Mikautadze and Atlético de Madrid are refusing to budge on the Julián Álvarez deal.

Rodrigo Is On His Way To Barcelona

A few days ago, Rodrigo's transfer from Manchester City to Real Madrid fell through. Barcelona then entered the race to sign the World Cup winner, who quickly accepted all the terms to join the Blaugranas. A week later, the two clubs are in intense discussions over the transfer fee, but, as many journalists are reporting, the deal is set to be finalised shortly.

Rodrigo's arrival means everything to Hansi Flick. Not only because of his reputation as a player, but because it signals that he wants a Barcelona side that stays in the opposition's half for as long as possible. The 2024 Ballon d'Or winner stands out for his intuition and intelligence in knowing where to press, his ability to win the ball back and his leadership in directing the team from the pitch.

If this signing goes well, Barcelona will undoubtedly be one of the teams with a chance of going far in the Champions League. More than ten years after their last victory in 2015, the Culés are hungry for success and they are proving it.
