How to watch Crystal Palace star Jean-Philippe Mateta at Paris Olympics 2024, full schedule and live streams

While most of the Crystal Palace squad are preparing for the season on the pre-season tour, Jean-Philippe Mateta will have a slightly different route towards full fitness.

The striker is set to miss the next few weeks of action as he is away with the France squad for the Paris 2024 Olympic games.

Mateta, 27, impressed at the end of the previous Premier League campaign, bagging 13 goals in as many appearances under Oliver Glasner.

The Crystal Palace boss has injected some excitement into Selhurst Park while getting the most out of his star players.

With Mateta’s recent emergence, Thierry Henry gave the striker a call-up to the France Olympics squad for the summer.

The forward accepted and will now be hopeful of guiding his nation to a gold medal alongside his former Crystal Palace teammate Michael Olise.

Football in the Olympics works slightly differently from usual international football, mainly down to the squads available.

Each nation must pick an under-23s squad that can include up to three players over that age bracket.

In this instance, Mateta fills one of those gaps for Henry as he is currently 27 years old.

France have been put in Group A for the Olympics, as they are hosts, which will feature the likes of USA, Guinea and New Zealand.

The top two from the group progress to the quarter-finals, which will see teams battle their way towards the gold medal match.

TV channel

Both BBC One and BBC Two will be showing coverage of the Paris 2024 Olympics, which will feature the main sports on any given day.

This may mean that football won’t be present on these channels while medals are up for grabs, but they will still be available via live stream.
