College football Week 0 scores, live updates: Follow UNLV vs. Memphis as first day of action wraps up

College football is back … for a few teams, at least.

The day began with North Carolina outlasting TCU for a 15-10 win in Dublin, Ireland. There were just two touchdowns in the defensive affair and both came in the first half of a wet and sloppy opener. But after a disappointing 4-8 campaign in Bill Belichick's debut college football season a year ago, the Tar Heels will surely take a win any way they can get one.

No. 14 USC left no doubt in its season opener against San Jose State. Jayden Maiava accounted for three touchdowns and 286 passing yards before USC took its foot off the pedal late.

In ACC play, Virginia impressed in a dominant win over NC State. New Cavs QB Beau Pribula got it done with his feet and his arm, running for 110 yards and throwing for another 155 yards and two touchdowns in a 34-8 win. Later, Florida State started its season off with a nervy win over New Mexico State.

Saturday's slate concludes as Memphis heads west to take on UNLV. Charles Huff will debut as the Tigers' new head coach after going 7-5 with Southern Miss last season. The Rebels are not only preseason favorites in the Mountain West, but also many analysts' choice to get the Group of Six College Football Playoff spot.
