Philippe Clement hit with ultimate Rangers charge by John Brown as key sin could leave him 'out of a job'

John Brown says Philippe Clement will be desperate to get to the bottom of the difference between Rangers’ Euro and domestic displays.

The Nine In A Row icon has been pleased with progress in the Europa League group. He’s pondered if some overseas signings are more comfortable playing continental opponents. Bomber said: “We've been doing better in Europe. Are the squad more at ease? Or do they get themselves up for a European game? Do the foreigners look at that as a bigger game than the domestic? But if you don't win domestic trophies, then you're out of a job.

“So I think they've got to channel what they've done in Europe into domestic games. But in Europe you get more time and space. Teams in the Premiership close you down. They don't give you time, make themselves compact and, after a period of time, hit you in a counter. I think the manager will be looking to sort that part of it out.”

Brown believes it’s vital Rangers bag another big result tonight before back-to-back Battle Of Britain tests. Rangers host Ange Postecoglou's Tottenham in a fortnight before travelling to Manchester United next month.

“Nice are fifth in their league and, similar to how Rangers have been, they’re up and down,” Bomber noted. “Hopefully on the night we get a lucky break, they might be under pressure with their own support.

“A good result would be massive. You need to get something out of this one because you’ve two tough ones coming up, Manchester United after Tottenham. For morale, it will be a big plus. As long as the gap is there in the league, there’s going to be negativity every week in the media. That’s just the way it is. Players, manager and staff have got to deal with that and get on with it."
