Liverpool Premier League fixture change confirmed after reaching Carabao Cup final

Liverpool are through to the Carabao Cup final, which means a massive Premier League match has been brought forward

Liverpool are through to the Carabao Cup final. The holders booked their place in the Wembley showpiece with a 4-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield tonight.

That ensured the Reds progressed as 4-1 aggregate winners and means they will now take on Newcastle United in the final on Sunday, March 16. Goals from Cody Gakpo, Mohamed Salah, Dominik Szoboszlai and Virgil van Dijk saw the Reds overcome a 1-0 deficit from the first leg with a comprehensive victory at Anfield.

Newcastle sealed their spot at Wembley with a stunning 4-0 aggregate success over Liverpool's Premier League title rivals Arsenal.

As a result it means the Magpies' Premier League match at home to Crystal Palace on Saturday, March 15 (3pm kick-off) will have to be rescheduled.

The same applies to the Reds' trip to Aston Villa on Saturday, March 15 (12.30pm kick-off). And it has already been confirmed when that rearranged game will take place.

Arne Slot's table-toppers will now travel to Villa Park on Wednesday, February 19 (7.30pm kick-off).
