Rashid Khan replaces Dwayne Bravo to become the highest wicket taker in T20s

Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan etched his name in the record books by becoming the highest wicket-taker in T20 cricket. The leg-spinner surpassed West Indies’ Dwayne Bravo (631 wickets) after claiming two scalps for MI Cape Town against Paarl Royals in an SA20 playoff match on Tuesday. His tally now stands at 633 wickets.

Rashid Khan has taken 633 wickets in T20 cricket, with 161 coming in international matches. The rest have come from franchise and domestic leagues, including the Indian Premier League, where he has played for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Gujarat Titans (GT). His current team, GT, retained him for Rs 15 crore.

Rashid’s T20 record is nothing short of remarkable. He has maintained a stunning bowling average of 18.07, with an economy rate of just 6.49 runs per over — figures that underscore his dominance in the shortest format.

His impactful performance on Tuesday propelled MI Cape Town to a commanding 39-run victory, earning them a spot in the SA20 final.
