England suffered a heavy 152-run defeat against Pakistan in the 2nd Test in Multan on Friday, October 18. Pakistan finally broke their 11-match losing streak in home Tests. Noman Ali was the star of the match, picking up eight wickets in the 4th innings. One of his key dismissals was England captain Ben Stokes, which became a special milestone for Noman. However, it wasn't just the achievement itself that stood out – it was the bizarre way in which Stokes was dismissed that left everyone, including the batter, stunned.

The incident occurred during the 28th over when Stokes opted to skip his usual sweep or reverse-sweep. Instead, he advanced down the track to slog over midwicket. Noman bowled a flighted delivery that spun sharply, sneaking between bat and pad as it kept low. Stokes misjudged the ball, losing both his bat and balance in the process. Pakistan's wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan swiftly collected the ball and broke the stumps, leaving Stokes in disbelief.

Noman capped off the 4th innings with 8/46 and registered the best figures by a left-arm spinner for Pakistan.

Pakistan’s spin-heavy strategy paid off as their two finger spinners, Noman Ali and Sajid Khan, delivered a match-winning performance. Remarkably, all 20 England wickets fell to the duo, with Noman claiming 11 and Sajid picking up 9. Chasing 261 with eight wickets in hand, England found themselves in a tough spot from the start. Sajid set the tone by dismissing Ollie Pope in the second over of the day, and from there, Noman took over.

England continued with their aggressive approach from the previous day, relying heavily on sweeps and reverse-sweeps. However, on a deteriorating pitch, it was a high-risk strategy that didn’t pay off. Ben Stokes, England’s top scorer, played several sweeps but was eventually stumped when he stepped out of the crease. Brydon Carse provided brief resistance, smashing three sixes, but the visitors couldn’t build any pressure.

Pakistan captain Shan Masood kept faith in his two spinners throughout the final innings, and they wrapped up England’s chase in just 34 overs, securing a comprehensive win.
