Hollie Shearer has announced her engagement to partner Joe Marchant after a romantic proposal in Paris, with her dad Alan sharing his reaction to the happy news.

The 29-year-old took to Instagram on Friday night to share a photo of her and Joe beaming in front of the Eiffel Tower, with Hollie showing off a huge diamond ring. "BEST DAY EVER!! Got to say yes to my favourite person," she gushed.

Football legend Alan Shearer commented on his daughter's post with a string of heart-eyes and clapping emojis, while Hollie's older sister Chloe and younger brother Will also shared their excitement. "Naaaaa gunna cry," Will Shearer said in the comments section, while Hollie shared on her Instagram Story that she had video called her brother to tell him the happy news, showing a screenshot or the pair grinning from ear to ear as they spoke to one another.

Hollie also shared a photo from Chloe Shearer showing her and Will with their parents Alan and Lainya at home together, raising glasses of champagne to toast the happy couple. "Can't wait to celebrate in person soon!" she wrote.

Singer and model Hollie has been dating professional rugby player Joe since January 2022, and the pair now live in Paris together after Joe joined Top 14 club Stade Français. Like her younger sister, Chloe is also dating a rugby star, England and Newcastle Falcons scrum-half Micky Young - much to the relief of her dad.

Newcastle United icon Alan, 55, met wife Lainya in the early days of his career while playing for Southampton in 1988, and the two married three years later. When previously asked about Hollie's romance with Joe, Alan quipped: "I'm just glad it's not a footballer!"
