The sitting president stated, “You know, his quarterback was named Mahomes. He was a great college coach. I said, ‘how good was he?’ He said, ‘You don’t wanna know how good. He made me into a great coach’. Pretty good quarterback, right? Ya, he was very good. He is a good guy too.”

The issue here? Tuberville was at Texas Tech from 2010 to 2012, while Patrick Mahomes arrived there in 2014.

So, did the POTUS lie, or was it a mistake? It could have been intentional by Trump who has gained interest in football. He announced a few days back that he would be in attendance to watch the historic Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans on February 9. The first sitting US president to do so!

The President even hinted who he was supporting to become the winner as he said, “I don’t want to say, but there’s a certain quarterback that seems to be a pretty good winner.” Trump’s liking for the Chiefs QB could be from his stance on elections when he didn’t endorse any candidate, while his wife Brittany faced heat for praising Trump. While the Chiefdom was happy, their QB had a pretty calm reaction.

Claiming he didn’t see the video, Patrick Mahomes accepted the President’s praise for his game. But didn’t make any fuss about it and said, “It’s cool to hear.” The QB also welcomed Trump to the Super Bowl, saying, “Yeah, I mean it’s always cool to be able to play in front of a sitting president, someone that is at the top position in our country.”

However, his friend and teammate, Travis Kelce, was on Cloud 9. He went into a rhetoric after getting the news and said, “That’s awesome. It’s a great honor. No matter who the president is, I know I’m excited because it’s the biggest game of my life. Having the president there, it’s the best country in the world and that’s pretty cool.”

He is right. A chance of a 3-peat rarely comes in any NFL player’s life. And here they are. With one win, they will occupy a permanent place in the NFL history. While the situation is getting intense, Trump has just added flair to it. With his college coach admission, he made sure his name was in the talks.

While one fan gave him a pass for focusing on ‘actual problems’ rather than thinking about who trained the Chiefs QB and wrote, “Maybe he has more important things to worry about than who coached Mahomes in college.” Another person defended the President by hyperextension of a coach’s role, claiming Tuberville had some role in signing Mahomes to the college and tweeted, “Tuberville left right before Mahomes started at Texas Tech, and likely recruited him at least.”

Another fan started having fun in the comments. He mixed up other sports legend by writing, “Yep, and Vince Lombardi did a whale of a job with Michael Jordan. 🙄” But his gaffe stunned everyone. One person called out his lie with a point blank reply, “He just flat out lied about a conversation that clearly never happened.”
