Manu Akanji has more transfer interest with Man City open to £15m saleManu Akanji could be on the move in the final days of the transfer window with Tottenham now interested in signing the defenderManu Akanji against Spurs last seasonTottenham have stormed to the front of the queue for Manu Akanji with Manchester City ready to sell the defender in the final days of the transfer window. Thomas Frank's side are the latest club to register strong interest in the centre-back as Pep Guardiola waits for his squad to be slimmed down.Akanji was signed as an emergency option in the final week of the 2022 summer window, following injuries to Nathan Ake and Aymeric Laporte. Guardiola wasn't convinced there was enough depth in the centre-back positions, so Akanji duly arrived from Dortmund for £15m.The Swiss international turned into one of the biggest bargains for the club, playing a key role in the team that won the Treble and continuing that as they became the first team in English history to win four consecutive league titles. While his form dipped last season with the rest of the squad, he still managed to be available for more games than most of his teammates. With City looking to trim their squad though and currently having two too many non-homegrown players to register for their Champions League squad, Akanji has emerged as a £15m option for clubs to buy and the player has not dismissed interest.Galatasaray have already made an approach and AC Milan have shown interest, but Tottenham could have overtaken both. The North London club can offer Champions League football under a new, impressive manager and would also mean Akanji can stay in the Premier League.City are working on a number of deals in the final days of the window, although told Spurs earlier in the week that they were no longer willing to negotiate an exit for Savinho. That has also ended their chances of signing Rodrygo from Real Madrid.Ederson's future remains in doubt amid interest from Galatasaray and Ilkay Gundogan and Stefan Ortega could also leave in this transfer window.Ederson's departure would prompt a move for unwanted PSG keeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, but talks of a No.1 swap have quietened in recent weeks.---Here at the Manchester Evening News, we’re dedicated to bringing you the best Manchester City coverage and analysis.Article continues belowMake sure you don’t miss out on the latest City news by joining our free WhatsApp group.
